Update on report withdrawn from the university’s website
April 25, 2017
The work called “Lessons from the Quebec Asbestos Industry: Can there be meaningful dialogue and consensus when facts come up against feelings?” was briefly posted on the Concordia University website in July 2015. It expressed the views of its author regarding the asbestos industry.
While the author clearly disclosed his former connection to the industry when applying to write the report, this was not disclosed in the version of the work that was posted online, nor was it peer-reviewed.
Concordia has withdrawn the study from the website, with the author’s permission, to ensure that it is not referred to or cited out of context.
The university publicly acknowledged this error at the time and took steps to ensure that similar situations do not recur.
