Concordia will soon welcome Sylvie Côté as the new executive director of employee and labour relations, effective April 29.

With more than 15 years of leadership experience in the public sector, Côté joins the university from her previous role as human resources director at the Centre de services scolaire Marie-Victorin.

“Sylvie is a seasoned leader with extensive expertise in human resources management,” says Carolina Willsher, associate vice president of human resources.

“I’m very pleased that she will be joining Concordia and Human Resources. She has demonstrated a great people-focused approach which aligns with our values and I’m sure she will bring fresh insights for the efficiency and success of our department.”

Côté holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Université de Montréal and is a member of the Bar of Quebec.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and feel privileged to join the human resources team and the Concordia community,” she shares.

'Positive, inclusive and people-focused working relationships’

As executive director, Côté will play a pivotal role in advising and supporting managers across the university. This includes developing and implementing employee relations practices and providing guidance on various aspects for the Employee and Labour Relations (ELR) unit.

“I look forward to contributing to the institutional priorities by deploying innovative HR practices and maintaining positive, inclusive and people-focused working relationships. I know that I can count on rich collaborations with my team members, colleagues and union partners,” Côté adds.

She assumes the role as Andrée-Anne Bouchard takes on new responsibilities as manager of employee relations and strategic initiatives.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrée-Anne for leading the ELR team and contributing to maintaining the positive relationships we’ve built with our various unions in the past few years,” Willsher says.

“We are very happy that she will continue to be a key member of our HR and ELR teams.”
