Event description
Indian Residential Schools – assimilation and abuse as education policy. Canada and its Christian churches ran these schools for a century. They led to thousands of lawsuits and the largest settlement of a class action in Canadian history. Part of that settlement created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Come listen to Justice Murray Sinclair, Ojibway and Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission talk about the impact of the residential schools and the work of the Commission.
