What to expect before, during and after the convocation ceremonies.
About convocation
Convocation is the optional ceremony that celebrates the end of your studies. Graduating students must register to attend convocation after applying to graduate. If you are attending convocation, you must do so at the ceremony that corresponds to your graduating term.
- If you are completing your studies in the fall or winter term, your convocation will take place at the spring ceremonies in June.
- If you are completing your studies in the summer term, your convocation will take place at the fall ceremonies in October or November.
The Faculty of Fine Arts ceremonies are held once per year in June.
Before the ceremony
Concordia's convocation ceremonies take place at Place des Arts in downtown Montreal.
Upon arriving at Place des Arts, graduates and guests will be led by Concordia marshals to their place. It is essential that graduates arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes early to their ceremony. Guests must have their tickets in hand.
During the ceremony
The convocation ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours.
Out of courtesy for all graduates, all graduates and guests are asked to please remain in their seats until from the start of the convocation ceremony until all have been dismissed.
Photographers on-site
Photographers will be present should you like to book a portrait.
Permitted items
Graduates are asked not to carry flags, noisemakers or other objects with them across the stage at convocation. Concordia reserves the right to remove any articles from graduates that do not adhere to our official convocation regalia.
After the ceremony
Reception
All graduates and their guests are invited to attend a reception, held in the lobby of Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier immediately following the ceremony. The reception is a moment for photos and celebration. A photo booth will be present at the event for graduates and their guests to use. No food will be served and there will be non-alcoholic complimentary beverages.
