Privacy Notices

The University’s Privacy Notices set out Concordia University’s practices when it collects and uses Personal Information concerning members of the University community, including students and employees.

What follows below is a short overview of the uses made of Personal Information and does not replace or supersede the information contained in the Privacy Notices indicated in the links at the bottom of this page.

Why do we collect your Personal Information?

  • To process applications for admission to study or enrol in a program of study
  • To process applications for employment
  • For any other purpose required or permitted by law
  • For payment processing purposes
  • To communicate with you and answer your request(s)
  • For other academic and employment purposes

How do we obtain your consent?

If you choose to provide us with your Personal Information after reviewing the relevant Notice, we will assume that you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information.

If we want to use your Personal Information for a purpose not identified in the relevant Notice or not permitted or required by law, we will ask for your consent before using the information.

With whom do we share your Personal Information?

For students, disclosure of Personal Information to entities in Quebec may include, but is not limited to, other public bodies, student associations, authorities involved with the external or internal funding of your academic fees, third party service providers etc.

For employees and individuals who apply to work at the University, disclosure of your Personal Information to entities in Quebec may include, but is not limited to, other public bodies, unions, third party service providers, etc.

We may also share your Personal Information outside Quebec with service providers located in other provinces or in other countries. If your Personal Information is processed outside of Quebec, our practices regarding your Personal Information will always be governed by the relevant Notice and applicable privacy laws.

What are your rights regarding your Personal Information?

You may refuse to consent to our request to collect, use or disclose of your Personal Information. Your refusal to consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Information may result in you not receiving services from the University including educational services.

You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of the Personal Information indicated as optional at the time of its collection.

At any time, you may request access to or correction of your Personal Information.
