Agreements & intellectual property

The Partnerships, Intellectual Property and Security (PIPS) team assists Concordia's research community with the review and administration of research agreements with both private and public sponsors. Our team also facilitates and manages the transfer of knowledge stemming from research endeavours undertaken by faculty members.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft and review all research-related agreements.
  • Oversee post-award administration of all research agreements.
  • Manage the development of intellectual property created at Concordia and disclosed through the Office of Research.
  • Act as a resource to the research community on all matters pertaining to research-related agreements, IP and technology transfer.

When do you need a research agreement?

Whenever you plan to engage in research with an external partner, a formal agreement (also referred to as a contract) is necessary. The PIPS team oversees both funded and non-funded research agreements, ensuring that all research activities adhere to the university's policies.
