Whether it’s a big presentation, or that job interview you’ve been preparing for weeks, when the spotlight turns to you, what do you do? If “crippling anxiety” comes to mind, you’re not alone.

Musicians, athletes, and other live performers have developed approaches and techniques that we can use in our public speaking to perform with greater confidence and impact. Through this workshop we explore the idea of public speaking as a kind of performance and consider what we can learn from the performing arts, the field of sports psychology, and the research around people-skills. By the end of the workshop, participants will have practiced nonverbal and vocal techniques, developed a pre-performance routine, and devised a practice strategy for their next public speaking event. Are you ready to embrace the stage?

Facilitator: Pierre Foret, MMus
