Work-study program
Gain meaningful employment on campus, up to 20 hours a week, to a maximum of 200 hours per term. Subsidized by Concordia University and Quebec's Ministère de l’Éducation et Enseignement supérieure, you'll earn between $15.75 and $17.75 per hour.
What is work-study?
Work-study is a program that allows students in financial need to work on-campus.
Key dates
Application periods are set around the term you wish to work.
- March 1–30 to work in the Summer Term: Job posts go up on April 1.
- June 15–July 15 to work in the Fall Term: Job posts go up on August 1.
- October 15– November 15 to work in the Winter Term: Job posts go up on December 1.
You are only required to apply once per academic year.
Program eligibility
To qualify for work-study authorization, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in a degree program (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD.)
- In the application term, the student must be registered full-time (as defined in the Undergraduate Calendar or the Graduate Calendar). Except for summer term, the student must be registered for six credits or more (in course-based degrees)
- GPA 2.0+ and in good standing
- Receiving government student aid for the current academic year, if you are a Canadian student* OR
- Paying the full international tuition rate and experiencing an exceptional financial difficulty as an international student after your first year of studies
- Not currently doing a paid internship like Co-op
- Able to work on-campus

Applying for jobs
Once you have received your work-study authorization, you can begin searching for available positions and submit your applications.
- Apply only to jobs that match the category of approval you have received – Q, C or I.
- Interested employers will contact you directly to set up interviews.
- Bring your work-study authorization to the interview.
- If hired under the work-study program, your employer will negotiate your salary and arrange for payment directly with you.
- Your employer will let us know that they hired you and filled the position.
