You may be facing financial obligations that are challenging to manage. These benefits, allowances and discounts can help.

CUSP membership benefits

CUSP members have access to discounts on unique opportunities for you and your family. 

Free goods bazaar

Held each semester, the free goods bazaar at CUSP features lightly used clothing, shoes and household items donated by Concordia faculty and staff. Come in and pick up something useful for you and your children.

Backpack to school

The program outfits elementary- and high school-aged children with school supplies at the beginning of the school year, a time when student parents face many financial responsibilities.

Lending library

With amazing support from Frontier College and the Concordia community, the free lending library at the centre allows your children borrow books. Come by and browse our collection!

Le Gym

Discounted gym memberships provide financial relief to student parents and encourage all students to stay healthy and active.

Financial Aid and Awards Office

Get help finding and securing financial assistance through government student aid programs, scholarships, awards and bursaries. The Financial Aid and Awards Office will provide personalized, in-depth advice to help you plan and manage your budget so you can focus on your studies.

Affordable food

A round-up of affordable food at Concordia, from a student-run vegetarian soup kitchen to tips on healthy eating for less.  

Government resources

Shelter allowance

You may be eligible for Quebec's shelter allowance program if you spend too much of your budget on rent and you are:

  • 50 years old or over and live alone 
  • A member of a couple and you or your spouse is 50 years old or over 
  • A member of a low-income family (composed of workers, students, income-security recipients, for example) with at least one dependent child

Child assistance payment

Quebec's child assistance payment is a form of financial assistance for eligible families with one or more dependent child under the age of 18 living with them.

Child tax benefit

If you have children under 18, the Government of Canada may help you with the cost of raising them via the Child Tax Benefit, a monthly, tax-free payment.
