Degree in progress: PhD Chemistry

Research interests

My research involves the synthesis and characterization of DNA tetrahedra which contain O6-alkylguanine cross-links at each vertex. The cleavage of this cross-link by O6-alkylguanine DNA alkyltransferase (AGT) protein results in disassembly allowing for various applications in intracellular delivery. In my studies I have gained skills with both solution and solid-phase synthesis to prepare the modified nucleosides and oligonucleotides for my project. In addition, during my studies I have developed a diverse skill set in biochemistry and biophysics using techniques which include gel electrophoresis, UV spectroscopy, circular dichroism spectroscopy and enzymatic assays.

Previous work

I graduated from Concordia University with my BSc Biochemistry - Specialization in 2021. I worked in industry for a year and returned to Concordia in fall 2022 to pursue a MSc in the Wilds lab. I fast tracked to the PhD program in 2023 where I have continued my research in nucleic acids chemistry.
