Overview
The Beverley Taugher Rozek Award for Irish Studies has been established through a generous $50,000 bequest from Beverley Rozek, a trailblazer in Montreal’s Irish community. The award provides financial support to outstanding undergraduate students beginning their studies in Irish Studies at Concordia University.
About Beverley Rozek
Beverley Rozek was a lifelong advocate for Montreal’s Irish heritage. She was the first female member and secretary of the St. Patrick’s Society of Montreal, a director of Saint Patrick’s Square, and a long-serving warden of Saint Patrick’s Basilica. Her extensive volunteer work included roles with the Loyola College Alumni Board and as a guide at Château Ramezay. Her wish was to inspire future generations to celebrate their Irish roots and pursue Irish Studies.
Award Details
- Amount: $5,000 per student
- Eligibility:
- Newly admitted full-time undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (major) in Irish Studies
- Awarded based on outstanding academic achievement during the admission process
- Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international students
- Renewability: Renewable annually, provided recipients continue to meet the eligibility criteria
Duration
Two scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded annually for five years, beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year and ending in 2029-2030.
