Dean Anne-Marie Croteau invites you to celebrate 50 years of Concordia with an in-depth look at the John Molson case competition program, the oldest and most successful in the world. 

During two short panel discussions you'll hear from students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, alumni and academic directors on how the case competition programs shaped their lives.

The Hon. Tony Loffreda, BComm 85

Canadian Senator 

Tony Loffreda was appointed to the Senate of Canada in 2019 by the Governor General of Canada on the advice of the Prime Minister. He is the first Canadian-born Senator of Italian descent. 

He was Lead Judge for the 2023 John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition (JMUCC)

Before his appointment to the Senate of Canada, Senator Loffreda was a Vice Chairman and Executive at RBC and he sat on Concordia’s Board of Governors. Among his many awards and distinctions, he is a recipient of the Order of the Star of Italy, the Lieutenant Governor of Québec’s Gold Medal for Exceptional Merit, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Governor General of Canada Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers, and the Senate of Canada 150th Anniversary Medal which he received prior to his appointment.

Ken Brooks, MBA 99

Senior Vice President, EY Orenda Corporate Finance Inc.

On the pulse of the transactions market for more than 25 years, Ken is an EY Canada Partner who leads their corporate finance practice in Québec.

Ken is actively involved in supporting the next generation of business leaders both at EY, and in the broader community. He recently completed a three-year term on EY Canada’s Partner Forum. From 2014 to 2019, he was Chairman of the Board for the John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition. He’s currently a Governor on Concordia University’s Board of Governors where he presides as a member of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Finance Committee. He is also Chairman of the Advisory Board for Concordia’s John Molson School of Business.

Anne-Marie Croteau, PhD

Dean, Concordia’s John Molson School of Business

Anne-Marie Croteau is the first female dean of the John Molson School of Business. A professor and researcher who specializes in information technology governance, she is a highly respected academic leader with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, researcher and administrator.

Croteau is a certified chartered director and serves on the board of directors for leading organizations, including Hydro-Québec and Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec.

Highly cited, Croteau’s academic research focuses on the strategic management of information technology. She is a recipient of the John Molson Dean’s mid-career award for distinguished scholarship and was ranked as one of the most popular professors at Concordia by Maclean’s magazine for seven years in a row.

Nora Baronian, BSc 99, MBA 06

Professor, Department of Management
Director of the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition Program

Nora Baronian has taught at both the undergraduate and MBA level specializing in Human Resources and Strategy. She has worked for more than 15 years in many Fortune 500 companies such as Pfizer, Accenture, Bombardier in various roles in Project Management, Consulting, and Ethics and Compliance.

Nora Baronian has been the Director of the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition Program since 2019.

Sara Cholmsky, BComm 23

Strategy Analyst at Accenture

Sara Cholmsky was a delegate of the John Molson Case Competition program for four years, competing in 16 competitions worldwide in a variety of disciplines. She also helped to organize provincial and national competitions through her roles as VP Academics (Happening Marketing 2024) and Director of Corporate Relations (JDC Central 2020).

For the 2022-2023 season, she took on the role of President for the program, overseeing the strategic plan for the delegates and executive team of that year, and was the recipient of the Mark Haber Award. Sara now volunteers as a coach for the regional and international competitions, and sits on the Board of Advisors for the program.

Lisa Malachowski, MBA 23

Product Line Manager at UEAT

As a student, Lisa Malachowski participated in the Case Competition Program both as a member of the organizing committee and as a competitor; she now stays involved as an alumni coach.

Lisa's professional background spans both the music industry and the restaurant industry, and she currently works as a Product Manager in the hospitality tech industry.

Tim Field, BComm 96, MBA 00

Senior Lecturer, Department of Management
Faculty Advisor to the John Molson MBA Case Competition Committee (MBA CCC)

Tim Field, the Miriam Roland Fellow in Business Ethics, joined Concordia University in 2000.

Currently he is teaching in the Management Department of the John Molson School of Business in the areas of Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics in both the MBA and undergraduate programs. In addition, his industry experience includes, ten years in the Aerospace industry, five years as an entrepreneur in both the automotive and marketing fields and currently as a management consultant having provided services to the Retail, Biotechnology, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Manufacturing, IT and Brewing industries.

Tim Field is also the faculty advisor to the John Molson MBA Case Competition Committee (MBA CCC), which provides guidance on external case competitions, organizes mentorship and coaching programs and handles all logistical arrangements for MBA students participating in case competitions across Canada and internationally.
