Alex St-Pierre

Thesis title: The Complex Framing of Feminism in Online Articles from The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Alex’s academic career began at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where she studied for 2 years before transferring to Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario in 2016.
In 2019, Alex obtained an Honours BA with a specialization in Psychology and a minor in Communication Studies from Laurentian University after completing an interdisciplinary and joint thesis between the two departments.
After graduating Alex moved to Paris, France where she pursued and obtained her first MA, in Global Communications, from the American University of Paris. Her MA thesis focused on feminist rhetoric on Instagram.
She has now added an MA in Media Studies to her education history.
Alex’s research interests include social movements as they occur on Instagram and on social media in general, gender in television and film (specifically Disney and Pixar), rhetorical theory/criticism, semiotics, and discourse theory/analysis specifically as it relates to political speeches.
