Valerie-Micaela Bain

Valerie-Micaela Bain graduated from Concordia University in 2003, earning a Bachelor's of Arts degree with a Specialization in Journalism; completing her last semester three weeks before giving birth to her daughter. In 2006, a three-month contract working in television and radio with Radio-Canada Manitoba turned into a permanent position.
Over a six-year period, she reported on high profile court cases, historical floods as well as issues pertaining to Indigenous Peoples and francophone communities. In 2012, Valerie-Micaela joined Radio-Canada Montreal. Fluent in French and English she was part of the CBC Radio-Canada team covering Tokyo’s and Beijing’s Olympic Games. Assigned to the Washington bureau for a few weeks in June 2022, she reported on four historical Supreme court decisions, one of them being the overruling of Roe v Wade. Valerie-Micaela is presently a parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa.
For ten years, she was a basketball student-athlete; ending her career with Concordia University’s Stingers. Running 10-K races and road cycling are now part of her passions.
