André-Joseph Cordeiro

AJ Cordeiro (he/him) is a journalist based in Montréal, Québec, Canada, and has been the Media Instructor at Concordia University's Department of Journalism since 2014, after graduating with a BA in Journalism & Political Science. His academic work centres around understanding the deeper undercurrents of misinformation/disinformation. He focuses on research related to a network of pseudo-local news journals, scraping and analyzing every article publicly available on their platforms for sentiment, word frequency, and topics, and then providing data visualization work for easy access for the public.

Beyond his academic pursuits, he possesses a rich background in podcasting, data journalism, open-source intelligence (OSINT), documentary, and video production. He has not only collaborated with but also mentored numerous creators, journalists, and producers. His work has been showcased on prominent platforms such as CBC, NPR, and CTV News, and he is also one of the inaugural recipients of the Omar Sachedina-CTV News Fellowship in partnership with RTDNF Canada & RTDNA Canada and the University of Toronto's Massey College. His research interests relate to fake news, OSINT, data journalism, politics, and digital investigation.
