Colin Crawford

Colin Crawford is a PhD student at Concordia University whose research examines the emergent discourses and political economies of platform television and smart technologies. His work pays particular attention to the relationship between datafication and financialization in media industries, infrastructures, and cultures, and his current dissertation project is looking at the historical evolution of the relationships between personal computing, consumer electronics, and television through the case of Apple. He is the author of the book Netflix’s Speculative Fictions: Financializing Platform Television, published in January 2021 by Rowman & Littlefield
