Abi Hodson
Fibres & Material Practices
I root my work in collage, video, movement, and textiles, with a focus on bodily relationships: intimate bodies, collective bodies, bodies in time. Currently, I investigate these relationships through a process I call creatur-ing the body: transforming the human body into a more-than-human entity, in kinship with the beings, materials, and lands that make up our worlds. What collective/composite bodies emerge when we sink into these kinships?
In my practice, I creature the body by focusing on transforming specific limbs via costume pieces and video work, layering movements and inserting video footage of disrupted sites.
