Longtime Concordia staffer Mary Rawlins’ dedication to Concordia has shone since her student days. She joined the university in 2005 as community relations coordinator for the Office of the Provost and in 2009, moved to the Faculty of Fine Arts, where she is coordinator for the Department of Creative Arts Therapies.
Equity, fairness, consultation and collaboration are central to Rawlins’s work ethic. She brings new ideas, creative solutions and innovative thinking to the exemplary support she provides faculty, students and staff. She is rigorous and knowledgeable, yet flexible, and colleagues appreciate her ability to foster a sense of belonging for all.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rawlins was essential to accomplishing the department’s move from the VA to the ER building. Organized and efficient, she ensured the new space functioned as quickly as possible while also performing her regular duties. She attended carefully to ensuring that everyone felt safe while they were working, teaching and learning.
Involved in many aspects of university life, she organizes Concordia Open Houses and hiring committees with diligence and participates annually in the Concordia Shuffle fundraising walk.
Rawlins’s contagious laugh and many outstanding qualities make her the welcoming, innovative and attentive person that students, faculty and staff count on every day.
She received the Concordia University Alumni Association's Outstanding Staff and Faculty Award in 2024.
