A two-time alumnus, he joined the faculty at his alma mater in 2000 and has taught strategy, entrepreneurship and business ethics at the MBA and undergraduate levels. He is the former Miriam Roland Fellow in Business Ethics.
His vast industry experience includes 10 years in aerospace and five as an entrepreneur in the automotive and marketing fields. As a management consultant with KOMAND Consulting, where he is now partner, he has served diverse industries over the last 18 years — from brewing to biotech, pharmaceutical to telecom, and manufacturing to IT.
According to his nominators, Field is absolutely in his element in the classroom, where he engages and challenges students using a case-based approach. He is innovative in providing cases based on very recent and relevant trends. Field makes the classroom a space for experimentation and failure, where students can feel safe trying things and growing. He empowers students to step into their own leadership capabilities.
Dedicated to his case competition teams, he gives evenings and weekends to help students practice and compete. He supports an MBA case competition alumni network that is positive, uplifting and supportive — where many of his past students come back, year after year, to provide coaching and assistance to their successors.
His mentorship extends beyond academic guidance. He is known for his open-door policy, offering career advice and support to students and alumni.
He received the Concordia University Alumni Association's Outstanding Staff and Faculty Award in 2024. In 2018, he won the Concordia Council on Student Life Outstanding Contribution Award.
