The Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies is proud to host four graduate students who were awarded the Montefiore Graduate award for the 2020-21 academic year. They will present their research:

From the Department of Religions and Cultures

Sara Sharpe will discuss "Friendship, Gender, and Jewishness: Interpersonal Connections Between Jewish Women in Montreal."

Lucas Cober will discuss "Isaac the Amazing Goat Boy: Animality, Disability and the Construction of Human Boundaries in Genesis 27."

Elliot Mason will discuss "Monsters on the Margins: Minority Identification with Monsters and the Monstrous."

From the Department of Political Science

Issam Banifadel will discuss "Self-determination in the Comparative Context: A Comparative Study between Indigenous Peoples of Canada and 'Stateless' Palestinian."

The talk will be given via Zoom and introduced by the Institute Director and Professor in Political Science, Csaba Nikolenyi.
