We are delighted to welcome the participants of our international conference on "New Languages, New Antisemitism?"

The events of October 7th and the ensuing war have had dramatic effects on discourses surrounding Israel and Zionism and regarding Jews and Judaism. There is a broad sense that we are standing at a historical crossroads, and that we are only just beginning to understand it and its implications.

As Israel emerges ever more demonstrably as a cultural code symbolizing a range of ideological, political, social and communal commitments that extend well beyond the country itself, the field of Israel Studies figures increasingly prominently as a key to many central and important issues in the humanities and social sciences writ large.

The international conference β€œNew Languages, New Antisemitisms?” serves as a starting point to deepen our grasp of the current moment, its history and its potential trajectories.

The conference is hosted by the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies (Concordia University) in collaboration with the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev), and the Postgraduate program in Social History (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).

** This is a closed conference.
