We will discuss the findings of Diversité D’abord, an in-depth research project looking into the impacts of racism on the Quebec non-profit sector. The research addressed the core questions of
How do Quebec community organizations perceive and address racial diversity on their teams?
How do Quebec community sector workers experience race and racism in their workplaces?
We will first share findings from the research including about the overqualification and undervaluing of racialized women in the sector, experiences of racial micro-aggressions, tokenism, retention and turnover of racialized employees, and different perceptions of racism between white and racialized employees. This will be followed by a group discussion. This research project is housed at the Centre for Community Organizations.
