Join Dr. James Conklin as he presents some of the findings from a multiple case study of communities of practice in Ontario’s health system. This talk will focus on the inductive analytical methods that were used to reveal the patterns of thought, behaviour and structuring that emerged in the Communities of Practice (CoP), and will describe how the study allowed the research team to encounter double-loop learning in the wild. He will suggest that through the cooperation and support of CoP members, the investigators were able to witness the ways in which CoPs acted as a junction for the rational epistemology of science and the narrative epistemology of practice.
