Informality is a research topic that exists at the intersection of anthropology, geography, history, political science, and sociology. As such, it has formed part of the research agendas of the Lab for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LLACS) members in one way or another.
Our working group aims to mobilize our individual, disciplinary knowledge to generate a more global understanding of informality and its role in Latin American and Caribbean urban societies, in particular, as it applies to the following topics: governance, markets, labour, settlements, infrastructural development, health care, disaster response, and cultural practices.
