A talk by Kilian Jörg, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna

The car is the symbol of the modern variant of the "Good Life" — it stands for freedom, autonomy and even rebellion. However, it is equally a prosthesis necessary for participating in modern life-worlds that produces a hegemonic relationship to the environment that is revealing itself as catastrophic. This talk explores how our desires, subjectivities and concepts are viscerally embodied and produced as an everyday practice in life-worlds dominated by automobility.
