What do we know about Concordia’s ties to a settler-colonial past and the Christian missionization of Indigenous people? What might a proper reconciliation with this difficult history entail for Concordians? During this two-hour Teach-In, panelists will draw on their ongoing research and teaching projects to outline some of this history and encourage discussion with interested students, faculty, and staff. How do we move forward while at the same time acknowledging these troubling legacies and, in particular, the presence on campus of buildings associated with the Grey Nuns and the Jesuits, two groups involved in the Canadian Residential School system?
