Dr. Phillip Choi's research focuses on the study of polymer thermodynamics and polymer dynamics using statistical mechanical theories and molecular simulation.

Recent projects encompass the design of polymers for food packaging and controlled release of drugs and fertilizers, the design of collectors for minerals processing, organic solvents used for non-aqueous extraction of oil sands, and carbon capture materials.

He co-authors a widely used textbook entitled “The Elements of Polymer Science and Engineering,” 4th edition (2025) published by Elsevier, 3 book chapters, 154 referred publications in internationally acclaimed journals, and 1 US patent.
