Over the past 50 years, a variety of transitional justice measures (e.g., truth commissions, trials, and reparations) have been implemented globally. Much academic research has investigated these measures in proto-typical transitional settings like post-conflict Guatemala and post-apartheid South Africa.
Still, recent scholarship recognizes transitional justice in non-transitional settings like the United States. In this lecture, Dr. Zvobgo will discuss transitional justice as a vehicle for racial justice, in the United States and beyond.
Dr. Kelebogile Zvobgo is an assistant professor of Government at William & Mary, a faculty affiliate at the Global Research Institute, and founder and director of the International Justice Lab.
This event is organized as part of the Department of Political Science's Human Rights Lecture Series, aimed at students studying human rights at Concordia. All are welcome to attend.
