Join us for a thought-provoking evening at Concordia University as we delve into the critical role of cultural centers in combating racism and supporting racialized communities in Montreal. Our panel discussion, titled "Anti-Racism Initiatives in Montreal," will explore how these spaces help individuals express their identities, strengthen connections to their heritage, and contribute to a more inclusive society.

Featuring community leaders and experts who are shaping the conversation around anti-racism, we will discuss the significance of creating spaces that allow marginalized communities to thrive.

Confirmed Panelists:

Kapwa Center: A Filipino community hub dedicated to fostering a space for culture and identity expression. Discover how Kapwa's concept of the "3rd Space" is building a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Rito Joseph: An educator on the history of Black Montrealers, Rito will share insights on the importance of providing a space where racialized minorities can truly feel "at home."

JIA Foundation: Located in a historic part of Montreal, JIA's unique perspective on gentrification and its impact on cultural spaces will provide a compelling view on urban change and resistance.

Moderator

Stephanie, a former staff member of Shift Concordia, will guide the conversation and ensure a dynamic discussion.

We are also excited to have representatives from the Anti-Racism Taskforce discussing anti-racism initiatives in urban centers, including how universities can contribute to fostering inclusivity and addressing systemic issues.
