Join us for a talk on Scholasticide and Food Crisis in Gaza by Dr. Ahmed Abu Shaban.
In this talk, Dr. Ahmed Abu Shaban will explore the profound resilience of Gaza’s population in the face of two interconnected crises: scholasticide—the deliberate destruction of educational infrastructure—and a weaponized food system.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Shaban was Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Al-Azhar University, Gaza. He is currently Visiting Professor in Environmental Sociology, Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change, York University, Canada.
This talk will be facilitated by Dr. Kevin Gould (Geography, Planning, and the Environment).
The talk will take place at the De Sève Cinéma (free and open to all) and will be followed by a gathering at the SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation (by invitation only).

Ahmed Abu Shaban explorera la profonde résilience de la population de Gaza face à deux crises interconnectées : le scholasticide- la destruction délibérée des infrastructures éducatives - et un système alimentaire militarisé.
Ahmed Abu Shaban a été doyen de la faculté d'agriculture et de médecine vétérinaire de l'université Al-Azhar de Gaza. Il est actuellement professeur invité en sociologie de l'environnement à la faculté des changements environnementaux et urbains de l'université de York, au Canada.
Cette conférence sera animée par Kevin Gould (du département de Géographie, planification urbaine et environnement).
La conférence aura lieu au cinéma De Sève (gratuit et ouvert à tous-tes) et sera suivie d'une discussion au Centre SHIFT pour la transformation sociale (sur invitation uniquement).
