In light of recent events where individuals of faith have shown strong support for political candidates, like Donald Trump, there are questions surrounding the connection between religion and politics. Is it possible for individuals with strong religious beliefs to be involved in politics? Can political candidates who have faith-based commitments govern in an unbiased way? Can they adequately represent those who don’t share their religious beliefs?

Professor Gagné's presentation will explore themes from his forthcoming book, American Evangelicals for Trump: Dominion, Spiritual Warfare and the End Times, and his work on religion and politics in the US, including the role of Christian nationalism.  After his presentation, we'll have time for questions and discussion.

Participants are invited to bring their own lunches; tea and coffee will be served.
