About the talk

Chemical products, such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seed coatings, are widely used in agriculture and landscaping. To mitigate environmental impacts, best management practices have been adopted to manage product portfolios. However, there is a growing trend toward developing and using more environmentally friendly products, driven by the urgency of climate change and global regulatory pressures.

Ferti Technologies, a leading specialty fertilizer manufacturer based in Quebec, serves the landscape, golf, and agriculture industries and is at the forefront of this movement. The company's innovation department is actively engaged in creating novel products and solutions that align with the three pillars of sustainability while also enhancing user experience — a hallmark of the emerging well-being economy. Current projects include the development of biodegradable polymer coatings for fertilizers, materials that promote carbon sequestration, and biological control agents. Chemical engineering is integral to these advancements in agriculture and landscaping, where the future demands a steadfast commitment to sustainable product development.
