Ever wonder what goes on in the other side of the building? Stuck in lab? Stuck in the studio? Step out and step in -to the FOYER space, a cozy cross-disciplinary hub that brings graduate students together to discover research affinities that link the Arts, Engineering and Sciences.

Initiated by the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Fine Arts, FOYER is a new space, social platform and grant program that provides the opportunity for graduate students to meet up with their counterparts across all four faculties to see how their research interests mesh. Meet & Greet sessions will be held in the FOYER space throughout the month of November, and a call for submissions will be circulated to interdepartmental students collaborations that wish to pursue financial support.

The idea is to incubate experimental interdisciplinary research and provide access to both inspiration and facilities outside the isolation of each department.

FOYER will support up to four collaborative research teams in the Winter semester 2017, Fellows will receive a small research grant of up to $2,500, and keys for 24/7 access to the lounge, which will serve as their workspace throughout the semester. All terminal degree students (MFA and PhD) are eligible to apply. Research teams must consist of 2-5 members, and represent at least two different faculties.

Interested students are encouraged to attend Meet & Greet sessions that take place in November, 2016.
