The Departments of Art History and Studio Artsare pleased to welcome Wendy Gers, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in the Netherlands. Gers' most recent exhibition Sustainable Ceramics #1 focuses on recycled, repaired and reactivated ceramics. Gers will speak about curating from a sustainable perspective and how artists and art historians are working at the Princessehof Museum and elsewhere to address the climate crisis.

Wendy Gers has worked as a curator in South Africa and Spain, and has contributed to exhibitions and ceramics biennales in China, Israel, Taiwan, France and Belgium. Her curatorial leadership was celebrated by the City Press’s inclusion of Gers in their list of 100 ‘World-Class South Africans’. Gers has been a lecturer at various universities in South Africa, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and currently holds position of Theodore Randall International Chair in Art History at Alfred University in New York.
