 ANTIGONICK by Sophokles

Translated by Anne Carson

Stage Reading led by Jessica Carmichael

Opening:            November 18, 2021 at 20h00
Performances:    November 19 at 20h00, November 20 at 14:00 and 20:00

Our staged reading of Carson’s Antigonick comes to you out of a 1-week rehearsal period. Performers, Designers and Stage Management have been bold and daring in their connection making with the text. We are of course, as ever, in process, and welcome you into taking up this story of mourning with us.

What is thigh to thigh? How do we remember siblings as forgotten mourners? Is a "nick" of time possible between life and death? What do ancient Gods and spirits prompt us to consider regarding balance/imbalance, the ways we “ride uphill” “go blind” “loosen the rigging” and bear witness to “the place we all go in the end?” What do public piety and anarchy share in common? Can we delete a line? How do we scream?... These are but some of the questions floating around in our theatre tonight as we bring the words to performance life.
