Master puppeteer Ronnie Burkett teaches how to seamlessly merge aesthetic design (set, light, sound, costume, and character development) with narrative and dramaturgical work, resulting in completely original performances from a single creative mind.

Though an emphasis is placed on unifying the elements of production design, this course also introduces students to the rich history of puppetry and the plethora of styles and techniques available in this artform. A wide range of processes are introduced and materials are explored through tactile conversations with new mediums. Students are wholly encouraged to experiment by getting their hands dirty.

As a puppeteer, one has the opportunity and creative pleasure to become a production designer, performer, craftsman, writer, and director. While storytelling is the heart of this class, puppets are the soul of it.

Note that tickets will be available online only one week before the event.
