Please join on on Thursday, May 18, at 6 p.m. EST at The Milieux Institute (11th Floor, EV 11.725) for the official closing party for In the Middle, a Chimera, as well as the closing for the exhibition element at the Milieux Institute.
The evening will feature live demonstrations of games and installations, as well as a live performance by Alexandre Saunier and Marc-André Cossette.
Milieux cofounder Chris Salter and his partner Anke Burger will also use the opportunity to say farewell to dear colleagues and friends before their move to Switzerland. Everybody is welcome!
No reservation is required; mask wearing will be mandatory, and social distancing will be maintained during the event.
The exhibition will be open as of May 5 (some artist exceptions) from Monday to Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
In the Middle, a Chimera considers how new, breakthrough technology developed under the veil of capitalism inevitably bends to its whirling, maelstrom pull (sometimes despite more communitarian originary intentions): the goal of this exhibition/project is to envision and develop community-oriented futures where this pull is redirected towards mutually beneficial relationships, and ways in which we might undermine or re-conceptualize these technologies to not only nurture ourselves but our surrounding ecosystems and environments.
