Speaking Our Healing is a three-part workshop series that invites sexual violence survivors to engage with the power of their voice as a vehicle for healing. Each workshop will feature guided meditation, facilitated group discussion and writing exercises with time for optional sharing. Our exploration will centre on the importance and the challenges of self-expression for sexual violence survivors.

Participants may attend all or any of the workshops. Two sessions will be held via Zoom (January 20 and February 11) and one session will be in-person on February 1. Together we will call in our courage as we relieve our burdens and speak our truths.

The workshop series may be especially helpful for those wishing to share their experiences and their work more publicly. There will be an opportunity to do this on February 14 at the open mic night for survivors called Our Voices | Our Power. As survivors, too often the lesson we take from our pain is that the world is unsafe. And, let's be honest, for many of us this is true making isolation feel safer than community. Our Voices | Our Power is a chance for us to break the isolation together.

The goal is simple: to keep the stage safe for survivors and those who support us. For so many of us, we associate being seen with being punished. This doesn't have to be the case. What would it like to have our most vulnerable selves finally validated? As Rumi once promised "the wound is the place where the light enters you." Come let the light in.
