This workshop is part of the CTL's Teaching with Generative AI series.

This workshop explores how faculty can guide students in using all-purpose GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for self-assessment and feedback on their assignments. Participants will learn strategies to empower students to leverage GenAI in conjunction with course rubrics, enhancing the development of critical evaluation skills, and freeing in the instructor’s time and resources.

During the session, participants will:

  1. Examine the potential of GenAI in generating constructive and personalized feedback.
  2. Learn strategies for using GenAI to provide feedback on different types of assignments (e.g., essays, projects, presentations).
  3. Discuss ethical considerations and best practices for integrating GenAI into the feedback process.
  4. Engage in hands-on exercises to practice using GenAI tools for generating feedback.

Participants will gain experience determining how to guide students to use GenAI for self-assessment, strategies for integrating this approach into their courses, and resources for addressing ethical considerations and promoting responsible GenAI use among students.

Bring your laptop to this workshop.

*No experience using Generative AI is required for this workshop. Participants at all levels are welcome.
