A large part of research-creation transpires in the form of material experimentation, and experiential sensory perception. What happens when the studio, and its material methodologies, move into public space? Can our reflexive practices be experienced
as a group? What happens when we expose works in progress to public discussion?
Hosted during the Cities Month at 4th SPACE, the Critical Mediation Series seeks to resituate socio-environmental practices, related to matter, media, and materiality; taking the form of objects, technologies, and techniques. With the goal of rethinking the conditions in which research-creation takes place, our group (D-CART 498/631, prof. Alice Jarry) offers three public events that activate diverse material and conceptual scenarios, and develop feedback loops between the practical and theoretical ideas catalyzed in this class. We invite you to reflect, experiment, and discuss—through practice and in action—in an open exchange in the public arena.
