"In 2019, Jamie Woodcock invited Karl Marx to explore the arcade, delving into the world of video games to uncover how people play, produce, and profit within this 21st-century industry." Inspired by this metaphor, Julia Polessa Macaira proposes to invite Basil Bernstein, the British sociologist renowned for his work on curriculum theory, to examine the universe of serious games. From Bernstein's perspective, pedagogical discourse serves as a principle of recontextualization, selectively appropriating, relocating, refocusing, and interrelating various discourses to establish its own unique order.
Developed in 2020 by a group of Brazilian undergraduate students under Julia Polessa Macaira's supervision, the "Antropolojogo" is employed as a tool for teacher training and scientific communication.
Join us to play "Antropolojogo" and engage in discussions centred on the recontextualization of Anthropology into a board game format. In the game, participants assume the roles of one of eight anthropologists, navigating a path filled with challenges while answering questions related to Anthropology. Players will take calculated risks, hoping for favourable outcomes while skilfully avoiding setbacks, all while enjoying the learning process.
If you are an anthropologist, sociologist, educator, game designer, or simply interested in innovative ways to teach Anthropology and reflect on the recontextualization of Social Sciences, we invite you to join us for this workshop where learning and fun converge!
How can you participate? Join us in person or online by registering for the Zoom Meeting or watching live on YouTube.
