What creative possibilities emerge at the intersection of printmaking and animation?
In this event, students from the Film Animation Program at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema will share their creative processes, presenting experimental animated works crafted through printmaking techniques—specifically monotype and linocut. These pieces forge connections between the singularity of each printed frame and the illusion of movement, exploring textures, residues, layers, colors, and forms.
Each student, working from their own expressive universe and thematic realm, will guide you through their process—from concept development to final presentation— at three interactive stations. Pushing the boundaries of traditional animation, these experimental loops blend the tactile richness of printmaking with the fluidity of motion.
