Connecting... is an online residency program developed by Art Volt in collaboration with Ada X (formerly Studio XX) and Art+Feminism. The goal of this program was to help emerging artists develop online practices through alternative and socially engaged platforms, by connecting them to resources and people.
Selected residents, all recent alumni of the Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, were commissioned to create a Creative Commons licensed work that is now hosted on Wikimedia Commons. They were also asked, through their research and projects, to consider how open-source platforms, community generated content, and Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-Together ethics can help build online resilience and care for ourselves, and for others.
Join us on Friday, January 29th as we wrap up this residency project with a virtual finissage!
This two part event will include a conversation with our three residents Alessia Signorino (BFA 2020), burdock (bird) jenkins-crumb (BFA 2020) and Lindsey Carter (BFA 2019), moderated by Ada X’ Cultural Mediator, Hannah Strauss. This will be followed by a Wiki Workshop led Art+Feminism in which participants will learn how to add content to Wikimedia Commons.
How can you participate? Join the conversation by registering for the Zoom meeting.
