Construction, renovation, and demolition waste represent about one third of total solid waste in Canada. Even though most of these materials could be reused or recycled, they are often landfilled.
How can we as researchers, professionals and community members address this gap?
The smart management of construction waste is multifaceted and should include strategies applied throughout the lifecycle of assets. In this workshop we will explore strategies for design, condition assessment, deconstruction, recycling, reuse, and performance assessment. Join us for a facilitated discussion!
The purpose of this event is to identify priority areas for development of innovative policies, tools, and technologies for the smart management of CRD waste. Discussions will focus on 3 overarching topics, as follows:
1. Design, maintenance, rehabilitation and deconstruction;
2. Recycling & reuse at the material level; and
3. Impacts of and strategies for CRD waste recycling and reuse.
The virtual event will be organized into two stages.
1. Panel and Discussion (60 min) – What should a smart approach to construction waste management include?
Event organized by Concordia University’s Centre for Innovation in Construction and Infrastructure Engineering & Management (CICIEM), Concordia’s Next Generation Cities Institute and 4th Space. This is the first of a series of events organized by the cluster to foster discussion around asset management with potential partners and the community.
