A staged reading of the performance

Du côté de la vie (Leaning Towards Life) is an intimate theatre piece on the experiences and soul-searching of a doctor, inspired by the work of Bulgakov. This solo play is performed by Philippe Goudard, a clown, actor, professor Emeritus from Université Paul-Valéry-Montpellier and a practicing medical doctor. During the pandemic, he rekindled his medical practice in rural South of France and focused his work more intensively on patients with COVID-19. He is offering Concordia and the wider Montreal community an unplugged version of his solo show, at the very moment that Concordia is launching its School of Health and Québec society is taking the full measure of the impact COVID has had on medical staff.

Presented by the Office of the Vice-President Research and Graduate Studies, the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Montreal Working Group on Circus Research and the 4th Space.

The performance will be live streamed on Zoom and YouTube with simultaneous English translation.
