For this lab walk through sub-series, 4th Space partnered with 3 current courses, led by Rebecca Duclos, Juan Ortiz Apuy, and Alice Jarry to allow their students, who are variously engaging in critical materiality, to have access to these visits with researchers live. Cecilia McKinnon, an intermedia artist and curator, is acting as our facilitator and interviewer for this series, and has gathered questions submitted by students from these courses.
Join Ahmed Soliman as he shows us what he and his students are currently working on in his labs—converting waste into construction materials and solving the problem of black ice. Ahmed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering, and specializes in green and smart constructional materials. In this episode, we meet Ahmed at the Engineering and Visual Arts Building where he is joined by a couple of his students.
