In 2019, Concordia professor Charles Acland was named Distinguished University Research Professor (DURP) Concordia’s highest form of recognition for overall research achievements. His prolific record of innovative scholarly contributions traverses media theory and industry studies, cultural studies, communication studies, and cinema studies, and includes such field-changing monographs as Screen Traffic – Acland’s celebrated analysis of the contemporary film industry in transformation – as well as pioneering co-edited collaborations such as Useful Cinema. Throughout the exceptional breadth and depth of these contributions Acland's research asks: how did our world of new media come into being and how does it affect our lives?
Join Professor Marc Steinberg as he engages Acland about his illustrious career and research portfolio. Dominique Bérubé, Vice-President, Research and Graduate Studies, will offer opening remarks to launch this conversation.
