This event will be coordinated and hosted by Scholarly Publishing Librarian. It will feature short three presentations followed by a Q&A. See the speakers below:
Dr. Rachel Harris is the Scholarly Publishing Librarian at Concordia University. She leads and coordinates the OER Program and support the growth and development of our open scholarship services.
Dr. Loren Lerner is professor emerita of the Department of Art History, Concordia University. She has published extensively on Canadian art history topics and nineteenth century art, and has taught undergraduate courses focusing on 19th century art. Loren Lerner is co-author with Karine Antaki of Creating the Modern: Intersections of Art and Society in the Nineteenth Century.
Pamela Carson is currently the Web Services Librarian at Concordia University Library. She has extensive experience with web design and development, UX design and web accessibility. Her professional and research interests include user-centred design and information management.
Elliot Mann is a third-year undergraduate art history student set to graduate from Concordia in the spring. He is currently proposing research oriented around surrealism and photographs of the human body. He enjoys creative non-fiction and dancing on the weekends.
Cristina Sanza is a Digital Journalism Instructor and writing coach in the Department of Journalism at Concordia University. Through the Department’s Science Journalism Hub, she coordinates its science journalism summer school, Projected Futures, and is part of the Concordia Science Journalism Project research team. She is also the lead writer and coordinator of the department's multimedia OER textbook.
Andrea Hunter is Chair of the Department of Journalism. Before coming to Concordia she was a journalist for many years with CBC Radio.
Ariel Harlap is a multi-faceted designer focused on community technology education and relational learning. They reflect on their practice through a justice-oriented lens. Ariel works as an Instructional Designer at the CTL, developing professional development opportunities and resources for and with faculty to support student flourishing. Ariel is leading implementation of CTL open guidebooks.
INTERESTED IN LEADING AN OPEN TEXTBOOK PROJECT?
Our OER program provides funding to support the cost-saving and pedagogical benefits of open textbooks for students, and it collaborates with our Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Our open textbook grants offer faculty funding to hire students who help with various aspects of open textbook projects, including research and work within Pressbooks.
