The Parliamentary Internship Programme (PIP) is a 10-month paid work-study programme on Parliament Hill for young Canadians or permanent residents who have completed at least one university degree.
Interns have the unique opportunity to work directly with both an opposition and a government MP and to write a timely, original research paper as participant-observers on Parliament Hill. They also participate in study tours with other legislatures in Canada and abroad, and meet with prominent Canadian politicians, journalists, activists, and others involved in Canadian political life. Alumni, who include two current MPs and a Senator, go on to outstanding careers in the public service, business, academia, and the not-for-profit sector.
The application for next year's internship is currently open. The deadline for applications is January 31st, 2024.
The applicant information webinar will bring in current and former interns who will share about their experiences in the Programme and take questions about the application process.
