In this active and dynamic workshop, we will explore the mindset required, as well as the essential strategies necessary, for effective public speaking in situations where you can prepare in advance, including class presentations, professional situations, and speeches. You will have the opportunity to practice prepared public speaking and receive immediate feedback in a fun, low-stakes environment. Together, we will identify your unique voice to support you in developing a fluid and adaptable style that is authentically you! Speakers at all levels are encouraged to attend.

You will learn:

  • Techniques to help you effectively prepare for prepared public speaking situations
  •  Strategies to feel confident in all spontaneous prepared public speaking situations
  • Effective prepared public speaking tools to apply in all situations
  • How to identify and use your authentic voice
  • Proven methods to connect with all audiences

In Part 2, you will have the opportunity to explore effective public speaking skills and practice prepared speeches/presentations. Consider the Part 1 workshop to explore improvisational public speaking techniques and practice informal and often impromptu everyday public speaking, and/or the Public Speaking Bootcamp, which offers public speaking fundamentals and a focus on common barriers including fear/anxiety and perfectionism.

Facilitator: Rosalia Felice, Senior Advisor, Professional and Corporate Education, School of Continuing Studies, McGill University
